Welcome to MHM Sept/Oct recap. The good, the bad and the luck.
So, where am I at? Well, September flew by so quickly I hardly had time to blink! Then October came out of nowhere too! I can’t believe I’m writing my MHM Sept/Oct recap already, and I’m even late in hitting publish on it! School started back up again and it was such a breath of fresh air to have all systems go in terms of a more routine school day. I was busy settling in my new class all the while still trying to find time to adventure at the weekend.
School started off so well! The children settled in nicely and the term is already busier than ever. It’s so refreshing having the school year start just like the good ol’ days.
MHM Highlights from Sept/Oct 2021 Recap
Manifesting. I’ve been really working on manifesting a beautiful life. What do I want out of this life? I learnt so much about myself when I moved to this country and I still have so much more to learn. Lately, I’ve been realising how important it is to create a beautiful life for ourselves. We have to control our own happiness. Maybe that sounds a bit cringe but it’s so true. Only when we find peace within ourselves can we then radiate that to others. So, I’m looking forward to the next part of my journey and taking control over how I choose to feel.
I booked a last-minute flight back to Canada! It has been a few years since I went back due to the closing of the borders and it felt SO damn good to be back. I loved being able to squeeze my family so tight. To feel my nans soft hands. To see my friends and laugh with them again. Visiting my friends and family was just the medicine I needed. I enjoyed my visit back to Canada so much. It did feel different this time, though. Canada wasn’t the place that felt like ‘home’ anymore. It was the people. I am so grateful to have kept in contact with such wonderful people. Canada is such a beautiful place and there are so many great outdoor activities. I really enjoyed the hiking and spent most of my time outside! It was probably the best highlight in my Sept/Oct recap, actually.
We went to a concert. A group of friends and I went to see Dermot Kennedy at Alexandra Palace in London. It was so wonderful seeing people together again and out enjoying themselves. It was quite emotional, to be honest. Seeing London come to life in an indoor Venue.
17 & 18 Months with Jax & JJ
Pets seriously make everything better. How amazing is it when your pets run to the front door as soon as you walk into the house? It melts my heart every time! The temperature has dropped so Jax & JJ haven’t been back outside in the garden. Instead, they’ve been sleeping in every nook and cranny they can find and JJ has been obsessed with jumping on top of the doors! She runs off when the doorbell goes off but will happily climb as high as she can. Jax is still my snuggle monster and gets cuddles from anyone and everyone.
Just My Luck: Sept/Oct 2021 Recap
My neck pain has been really playing up lately. Although never really gone, I have been learning how to manage the pain. I think it’s a combination of being back at work and trying to sightsee at the weekend. I’m told that chronic pain can be managed, so I’m working through finding a way to reduce the pain and deal with it. Have you found any remedies that help with chronic pain? I’d love for you to reach out to me!
I started changing the theme on my blog. I learnt all the backend coding for most of September and then in October my staging site crashed and I had to start all over again! I’m still working through some bugs but it was devastating to have lost all of that hard work. Lesson learned: Always have a backup of your backup.
MHM Lowlights: Sept/Oct 2021 Recap
Have you ever sat and reflected on what makes you happy? I mean what really makes you feel good happy? I spent a lot of time the past two months doing just that. It can be scary and hard dissecting your feelings and work through emotions that you may have been holding on to for so long. I definitely reached a low point in October. Work and other things started to feel like they were piling on top of me, and on top of all that, I was experiencing quite bad shoulder pain.
I know that living with chronic pain happens to many of us, but I am still finding my feet with it. So admittedly, I do struggle at times to stay positive when all I can think about is when will this pain go away!
MHM Busiest Instagram Post: Sept/Oct Recap
I shared a post about a beautiful walk in London! The Diana Princess of Wales Memorial Walk. It’s 7 miles long and takes you through such beautiful sights in London. There are 90 different plaques dotted around on the path. So keep an eye out! This is such a fab walk on a nice day. Just be sure to wear comfy shoes! Follow @maphermiles on Instagram.

What’s Next for MHM:
September and October flew by so fast! I didn’t work on my blog that much because I was busy changing the template of Map Her Miles. Honestly, who knew that starting a blog meant you also had to be good at marketing, SEO, and website design. It was SO hard. But I think that I’m nearly out of the woods now. So I can get back to writing more content for Map Her Miles blog!
Destinations MHM Visited:
I spent a lot of my weekends exploring London and taking in all the beauty of the Autumn leaves changing. Regents Park is beautiful in Autumn. I loved spotting all the orange and yellow leaves. I also flew to Canada for a very short trip to visit family and friends. While I was in Canada I visited The Butchart Gardens (pictured above). It was absolutely stunning this time of year! The colours of the trees were literally glowing they were so vibrant!
So, that was my MHM Sept/Oct 2021 recap! I wasn’t as busy adventuring these past two months, but I was busy doing a lot of admin on the blog and a lot of work with myself. Thank you for following me on this journey.
